Craft Studio

Last week while home, I posted a Facebook Live video of my craft studio.  It is far from perfect and I've got a long way to go, but it's all unpacked.  Boy, you don't realize just how much you have until you finally have it all in one room and out of boxes.  My plans are to use up many of my supplies and to purchase as needed instead of having so much that my studio is ready to film an episode of Hoarders.

If you would like to see the video, just join my Facebook group and you'll see if posted.  If I can figure out how to download it and then upload to Blogger, I will.

I'm back in Glenmora this week and brought some things with me to make 3 wreaths.  Stay tuned for photos and instructions!!!

Friendship Cards

While I'm waiting for my new Close to My Heart goodies to come in, I decided to play around with some things I already have.  I'm not typically a card maker, but I had a technique I was wanting to refresh myself on, and cards are the easiest way to try out a technique.  I will be sending these out this week so they won't just sit with the cards I've made in the past.  That's New Rule No. 1 for me:  Only make what you know you will use.  That means no cards unless I'm sending them immediately.  No scrapbook pages without pictures.  No wall art without hanging it.  No projects unless I'm going to actually use what I am making.

Okay, so now for the fun stuff!!!!  These cards were so much fun to make.  Stamping the background with the Versamark ink was a bit tedious, since it's so hard to see the clear ink.  They aren't perfect but they are really cute.  What do you think?

I used a chevron background stamp from several years back to create the background on white card bases, using Versamark ink and clear embossing powder.  I then used a few distressing tools and inks to create the background.  Our pigment ink pads would work better for this, since they blend easier and don't dry as fast, but I only have basic colors in those and I wanted to use some fun colors.

I cut the front accent pieces from white cardstock, stamped the sun in red, and used inks and distressing tools to color the sun and sky.  I stamped the sentiment and put it all together.  They were super easy, lots of fun, and they look beautiful too.  I loved revisiting an old technique and finding a new way to use it.

Once I get my new materials in, I will create a video tutorial on heat embossing, using the February Stamp of the Month, Easter Bunny.
